Fujifilm NXT 3rd Generation SMT Machine Battery Guide: Where are the batteries used? How to replace and calibrate them?
Jan 04, 2026
NXT surface mount equipment contains numerous solid-state batteries, mainly including module servo amplifier batteries, placement head batteries, module CPU box batteries, base CPU box batteries, and batteries in the tray unit-L servo control box, etc., which require regular maintenance and replacement. This article will provide a comprehensive introduction.

I. Replacement of Module Servo Amplifier Battery

1. Confirm that the module's power is connected.

2. While keeping the rear cover plate on the lower back of the module from falling, remove the fixing bolts.

3. Remove the cooling fan from the rear cover plate, and pull out the wires while the fan is running.

4. Reach into the module through the opening on the removed rear cover and locate the battery box to be replaced.

5. Open the battery box and replace the battery with a new one.

6. Install the cooling fan onto the rear cover plate.

7. Install the rear cover plate onto the module.

II. Replacement of Placement Head Battery

1. Remove the placement head from the module.

2. Remove the cover plate of the battery storage compartment.  Do not remove the battery at this point.

3. Reinstall the placement head onto the module and connect the wire sockets (3 of them) to the placement head. Keep the module in the pulled-out state.

4. With the module power ON, confirm that the placement head is powered on.

5. With the module/placement head powered on, replace the battery with a new one.

6. Execute the command to replace the placement head, and turn off the power to the placement head.

7. Remove the placement head from the module.

8. Install the cover plate and return the placement head to the module.

III. Replacement of Module CPU Box Battery

(I) Even when the main power switch is OFF, the machine can retain the following information based on the battery in the CPU box memory. However, if the battery is depleted, this information will be lost when the machine's main power switch is turned OFF. a. Various intrinsic values: Matrix data, Feeder tilt data, Automatic correction results, Component camera data for 4-nozzle work head
b. Module function setting values
c. Production circuit board information, Production Job name, Production information, Profiler information, Production end sequence information. To preserve this information, the battery must be replaced after the preparation procedure.

(II) Replacement Preparation Procedure
1. Please confirm that you have the floppy disk containing the feeder data and feeder tilt data. This floppy disk was included when the machine was purchased. If you do not have the floppy disk, it is necessary to perform the following operation:
a. Save the module's matrix measurement data to the PC. For details, please refer to the "NXT System Manual".
b. Obtain the module's feeder tilt measurement data. The feeder tilt measurement data can be confirmed in the information command in manual mode.

2. Obtain the contents of the module's function settings. The contents of the module's function settings can be confirmed in the attached software. For details, please refer to the "NXT System Manual".
Next, please perform the following operations for replacement.
1. Remove the nozzles from the placement head.
2. If there is a circuit board in the machine, remove it.
3. Install the jig corresponding to the placement head on the nozzle changer. The number of jig nozzles matches the number of nozzles on the head.
4. Prepare a replacement battery and an anti-static wrist strap for the control power supply (resistance value: 1M Ω or more).

(III) Module CPU Box Battery Replacement Method  The operator replacing the battery should wear an anti-static wrist strap for the control power supply (resistance value: 1M Ω or more) on their wrist. The connection port for the wrist strap is on the front of the base.

1. After turning OFF the main power switch, remove the CPU box from the module. (Please refer to "8.7 Module CPU Box Replacement".)

2. Remove the CPU box cover. Furthermore, remove the screws on the front panel.

3. Wear the anti-static wrist strap on your wrist.

4. Disconnect the connectors for the ATX power supply and FAN power supply cables.

5. Pull out the circuit board tray to a position where the battery can be replaced. 6. Please replace the battery. Lift the front of the battery and remove it from the battery holder. When installing, please insert it from the back and press it down.

7. After replacing the battery, install the CPU box in the reverse order of removal and mount it onto the module.

(IV) Various Settings After Battery Replacement: The following operations must be performed after replacing the battery.
a. Matrix data registration
b. Feeder station tilt data registration
c. Component camera data registration for the 4-nozzle work head
d. Job transfer e. Recalibration instruction f. Recalibration instruction  In addition, please confirm that there are no nozzles installed on the placement head and no circuit boards inside the machine. After turning the machine's main power switch ON, please perform the following operations.
1. Please confirm the serial number of the target module.
2. Please register the matrix data after executing the straight-line path of the software for measuring the matrix.
3. Please register the feeder station tilt and component camera data after executing the straight-line path of the software for measuring the feeder station tilt.
4. Please transfer the Job from Fuji Flexa to the module.
5. Please install the jig nozzle on the nozzle platform and perform recalibration.
6. Please install the jig nozzle on the nozzle platform and perform recalibration.
7. Please record the module settings of the additional software before replacing the battery and reconfigure them.

IV. Base CPU Box Battery Replacement:
Even when the main power switch is OFF, the machine can retain network settings information based on the battery in the CPU box memory. However, if the battery is depleted, this information will be lost when the machine's main power switch is turned OFF.

(I) Preparation Operations 1. Please record the following network settings. These settings can be confirmed in the information commands in manual mode.  • IP address • Subnet mask • Default gateway • Also, DNS server and host computer name, etc.

(II) Battery Replacement Method
1. After turning the main power switch OFF, remove the CPU box from the base.
2. Remove the cover of the CPU box. Furthermore, remove the screws on the front panel.
